By JOY LEE

Yap says its a challenging budget to put together this year, but more could be done for SMEs, as they are the core of the businesses in Malaysia.

The latest budget indicates that the Government expects SMEs to be more independent. However, SMEs in the country have yet to catch up with those in more developed countries and could do with more support, reports JOY LEE.

While the recent Budget 2016 has received fairly positive feedback for easing the cost of living, there is a lack of long-term approach to build and grow the SME sector.
