Having already proven itself popular with property buyers, the Villa Crystal condominium development in South Desa Park, Kuala Lumpur, is now winning industry accolades.

The high-end residential development won three winds at the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2015-16, held in Kuala Lumpur, in the “Highly Commended Apartment — Malaysia”, “Highly Commended Architecture Multiple Residence — Malaysia” and “Five-Star Best Interior Design Apartment — Malaysia” categories.

“I was very surprised to win the awards mainly because Villa Crystal was up against bigger developments while our units are only a little more than RM500 per sq ft.

“I’m proud to say that over the years, our developments have gained a small group of followers,” said Orando Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Eng Wei Chun.

“These awards are because we had that support.”

In previous years, Orando Holdings bagged awards such as the European Society for Quality Research Quality Leadership Award as well as European Quality Award from the European Business Assembly (EBA).

“Having these awards and our followers’ support gave us the drive to improve quality at all times,” Eng said, adding he is firm believer in building properties along the lines of Swiss watches, which are known for their quality and value.

“Every of our project has a different design focus. Villa Crystal focused on practical layouts where every space can be used with no waste.

“We introduced a multi-purpose yard with enough space where owners can choose to build room extensions or have a garden,” he explained, adding that owners have the freedom to renovate their homes like a terrace house.

Villa Crystal is a low-density development featuring 414 units in two blocks and six units to each floor. The project which is expected to be completed by 2017 is already 75% sold.

Eng says the company always places its focus on one project at any given time.

“We’re not aggressive so as to have a big volume in one phase and our direction is more toward stability rather than quantity,” he said.

The company’s projects are all built in pockets of land of less than five acres in mature areas.

“In the property business, we would rather focus on the niche market,” he said, adding that some of the company’s projects are designed to suit a family with three generations under one roof, while others cater to young couples who would like to have the option to renovate.

As a result of the company’s win in interior design category, Eng will be representing the company in London later this year, where the Villa Crystal will contend against winners from other regions.
