Elevated views: A rendering of one of the residential units in the Principal Tower in London.

UPPER HOUSE, a collection of luxury apartments designed by the renowned architects Foster + Partners is being unveiled to investors in Malaysia this week.

Situated in the heart of London’s financial district, Upper House occupies the top 30 floors of the 50-storey Principal Tower. The position of the Upper House affords buyers views of some of the world’s greatest landmarks.

Designed inside and out by the architects behind contemporary global landmarks including The Gherkin and City Hall in London, The Troika in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore Supreme Court and the Beijing International Airport, Upper House residences provide buyers with a premium specification finished to high standard, with prices starting at RM5.4mil for a one-bedroom apartment. Upper House is the premium collection of apartments at Principal Tower, a joint development by Brookfield Property Partners LP, Concord Pacific and W1 Developments. Along with views over the City of London, owners of the apartments in Principal Tower will benefit from a residents’ gym, spa, screening room, lap pool and 24-hour concierge.

Just 30 minutes away from London City Airport, the Principal Tower development features a piazza, shops, offices, cafes, restaurants and links to five major transport hubs in close proximity — including London’s major Crossrail development. In addition to their global projects, Foster + Partners have delivered a number of landmarks in Kuala Lumpur such as Ilham Tower, The Troika, and Arcoris Mont Kiara.

“Over the years, London’s real estate market has become known as a safe haven for Malaysian investors, and the city remains the principal target for regional capital,” said Jones Lang LaSalle director Tim Wright. Jones Lang LaSalle are the selling agents for Principal Tower.

“In addition to that, we have witnessed increasing interest from Malaysian investors outside the traditional ‘golden postcodes’ of Belgravia, Knightsbridge, and Chelsea, in areas of ‘New London’ such as The City and Shoreditch. This interest is driven by a desire to spot new growth areas and benefit from higher returns.”

Concord Pacific chief executive officer Terry Hui said, “The Upper House at Principal Tower offers the chance to buy an architectural gem with true rarity value, designed inside and out by Foster + Partners in the heart of London’s global business district.”

W1 Developments managing director Christopher Murray said; “We are creating a new district: a buzzy, vibrant place where people will want to both work and live. The office building, adjoining retail and public piazza are due for completion in 2016, so that by the time the residential tower is complete, homeowners can expect that all the offices, shops and restaurants will be open.”

Prices for City House start at £778,000 (RM4.3mil), while rices for the Upper House start at £986,000
