KUCHING: The state has set up an excellence centre for weightlifting as part of its bid to become overall champion in the 2018 Malaysia Games (Sukma 2018) in Perak.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the 19th Sukma, to be held next June, offered 34 gold medals in weightlifting and considered a “gold mine” at the national sporting meet.
