AN exhibition highlighting the memorable moments of Malaysian badminton is to be set up at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Badminton Hall at the Kelana Jaya Sport Complex in Petaling Jaya on Nov 21.

The National Athletes’ Foundation (Yakeb), formed in 2007, will be responsible for setting up the booth in conjunction with the Unity Under-12 doubles badminton carnival, organised by SportsUnite Sports Club and MBPJ, and supported by Milo and Victor Sports.

SportsUnite Sports Club chairman Datuk Dina Rizal said the exhibition would give the players and parents an opportunity to better understand the history of Malaysian badminton.

“It will also be a source of inspiration to young badminton players,’’ said Dina. “There is also a possibility of some of our former badminton greats coming for the event.”

The carnival, limited to 48 pairs – 24 in the boys and 24 in the girls categories – should comprise two races in each match.

The boys and girls will be divided into eight groups. After the preliminary rounds, the top two pairs from each group will advance to the round of 16, which will be played on a knockout basis.

The top eight pairs in each category will win medals and products from Milo and Victor Sports.

Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said the carnival was an excellent platform to promote unity among children.

Registration is free and entry forms are available at facebook.com/sportsunite and the facebook of Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya.
