Not up to the mark: SMK Mutiara Impian’s Muhammad Husnul Irsal Amran (third from right) making his getaway after successfully shaking off his SMK Seksyen 11 markers in the MoE Super League Under-17 clash in Simpang Ampat, Penang.

IT PROVED to be yet another frustrating day for SMK Mutiara Impian when the team fired blanks against SMK Seksyen 11 during the MoE Under-17 League clash at the SMK Mutiara Impian Mini Stadium in Simpang Ampat in Penang.

Even the team’s ace striker Muhammad Husnul Irsal Amran could not breach the SMK Seksyen 11 defence, with his string of attempts in the 15th, 27th and 35th minutes, just not finding the back of the net.

FA of Penang’s technical and development director Muhammad Firdaus Chew, who was among the many who was left frustrated on the stands, however believed that the young lad should not be left shouldering the burden.

SMK Mutiara Impian’s other notable strikers Athari Aqil Fitri and Mohamad Azreen Haiqal also had their moments of disappointment.

Athari failed to fully utilise the chances which came his way in the 45th and 60th minutes, while Mohamad Azreen also came close in the 85th minute.

SMK Mutiara Impian’s Under-17 chief coach Noraeffendi Taib said while SMK Mutiara Impian could boast of having only one 16-year-old in the team this year, with Nur Alif Aswad Mohamad currently playing for the Under-17, the rest of the squad are built around 15-year-olds, who will still be eligible for next year’s challenge.

Another promising find is the successful pairing of central defenders Muhammad Fitri Adha and Ahmad Shukor Alif. Both are only 15 and Noraeffendi is confident that the duo will become a pillar of strength for SMK Mutiara Impian in future challen-ges.

SMK Mutiara Impian, however, were equally disappointed that their Under-14 side suffered an identical fate as their Under-17 outfit on the day.

With their promising young strikers Muhammad Ikhwan Hakim and Muhamad Hafiz Danial doing everything right, they were, however, made to settle for a stalemate against SMK Seksyen 11 in an earlier match at the same venue.

This was evident when between them, Muhammad Ikhwan and Muhammad Hafiz squandered no less than four sitters, all of which they had only SMK Seksyen 11’s goalkeeper Muhammad Daniel Shahfiq to beat.
