Kon Fui Sun of Kuala Lumpur is set for a money-can’t-buy experience as she will be flying to the United Kingdom to watch Liverpool play against Manchester United at Anfield this Sunday.

The 32-year-old finance manager emerged as the grand prize winner in Standard Chartered’s Liverpool Debit Card contest, which ran from last December to last month.

Besides two Centenary Stand tickets for the match, Kon also won two return air tickets to the UK with airport transfers, two nights’ hotel accommodation, stadium tour and RM1,000 spending money.

Commenting on her win, Kon said, “I increased my chances by making more incremental deposits into my JustOne account and performing more online bill payments during the contest period.

“My sister is an avid Liverpool fan but she generously turned down my invitation to be my travel companion so that I could go with my husband. We have never been to the UK so we are truly excited and looking forward to it.”

Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia head of retail products Alice Lin said, “As proud sponsor of Liverpool Football Club, this is one way the bank rewards customers and fans. The Liverpool debit card is an excellent way for the more than two million Liverpool fans in Malaysia to show their affinity.

“As Malaysia’s first bank, celebrating our 140th anniversary this year, we will continue to innovate and provide products that give great value to our customers.

“As we move towards being a cashless society, anchored by Bank Negara Malaysia’s initiative to drive e-payments, the bank’s debit card usage is expected to record double digit growth year on-year.

Debit cards are not only a convenience but also a good money management tool as expenses are deducted directly from the linked current or savings account,” Lin added.

The contest was held in conjunction with the release of a new card face for the Liverpool debit card that is exclusively available to Standard Chartered current and savings account holders.

Lin said, “This design is unique to Standard Chartered in Malaysia and not available in other markets. Undeniably, the club has a strong heritage, as is Standard Chartered, and we are extremely proud to be associated with the club.”

Besides the grand prize, 10 autographed jerseys and 10 autographed Liverpool footballs were also given out to the consolation prize winners.

In addition, 27 weekly top spenders using debit card throughout the contest period were rewarded with Xiaomi mobile phones.
