Pahang crown prince advises the youth to take up golf

KUANTAN: The perception that golf is for the rich and elderly should be changed, as youngsters too could take up the game as a a viable career option.

Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said previously the golf was an exclusive sport with clubs charging thousands to sign up members, but now the sport can be accessed by the young too as a form of recreation and sport.

Tengku Abdullah said presently golf courses or golf clubs could be the catalysts for commercial development.

“Youngsters should take the sport up as a profession as golf can be played by both young and old compared to other sport like football which might be too taxing for older players.”

Tengku Abdullah said this after officiating the opening of the Mahkota Golf and Country Club, here.

Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and State Secretary Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail.

“Playing golf can help you maintain your fitness as it require you to train your stamina,” he said.

Tengku Abdullah said to the youngsters, if they take it as their career, and with focus, they could even excel too at international level what more with the attractive prize money offered in any of the professional golf tournaments.
