Kota Permai Golf & Country Club has been conferred the Malaysia’s Best Golf Course by the World Golf Awards.
World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations.
World Golf Awards is part of World Travel Awards, currently celebrating its 21st anniversary as “the Oscars of the travel industry”.
The worldwide voting process began on June 20, 2014 and closed on Oct 2. Votes were made by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry such as senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media professionals.
Gamuda Land Clubs group general manager Tang Meng Loon said, “It is a tremendous honour to receive this award as a whole as it recognizes the top notch quality of golfing available at our course, something that we can be proud of.
“The continuous support from our directors and gargantuan effort by the management, staffs and with the support of our members attributed to this success”, he said.
Malaysia was conferred ‘Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2014’ award at the inaugural World Golf Awards 2014, held at the Conrad Algarve Hotel in Portugal.
Responding to these wins by Malaysia, the Minister of Culture and Tourism Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said, “We are pleased to receive these recognitions. The awards motivate us to strengthen our effort to promote Malaysia as a popular year-round golf destination.”
Malaysia Golf Tourism Association (MGTA) president Ng Eu Shen said, “Kota Permai Golf & Country Club has long been recognised as one of the best maintained clubs in the region.
“I am very pleased this recognition has now been brought to the attention at the World Golf Awards.
“With the title of “Malaysia’s Best Golf Course”, I hope Kota Permai will continue its successful ways while my heartiest congratulations to its management and staff ”.
Ng also expressed his pride over the international achievements and felt truly happy over the awards won by local golf industry players as the winners are active MGTA members.
