MELAKA: Music filled a charity home on Jalan Padang Jambu in Bukit Baru here when a local theatre brought Christmas cheer to underprivileged children through a live performance.
The event's organiser Cassian Anthony said the initiative by Malaqa Noir, which was started by social activist Cassel Krishnan and him, collaborated with Genesis Choir, one of the historic city' famous choir groups.
"Dubbed as "Malaqa Noir’s Christmas Pop Out", he said, adding that the programme was aimed at reaching out to the children through art and music rather than the usual charity giveaway.
“We also had the opportunity to spend quality time with the children during the event,” he said on Tuesday (Dec 23).
Anthony said the children were treated to a freshly cooked dinner and received Christmas gifts before the performances began.
He said the evening began with a theatrical performance titled "The First Noël" by Malaqa Noir, followed by a Christmas cantata medley of carols performed by Genesis Choir.
Anthony said the initiative was intended to convey the message that meaningful engagement and heartfelt gestures could leave a deeper impact on the children.
“A gift from the heart is far more meaningful.
“It is also about sharing the love and joy of theatre and performing arts with the younger generation," he added.
