National library introduces immersive learning centre

THE National Library of Malaysia (PNM) has introduced the Immersive Learning Centre to attract the younger generation.

This new approach based on digital and immersive technologies is in line with the rapid development of today’s technology.

In a media statement, National Unity Ministry said it was aimed at expanding access to digital information resources and encouraging the use of technology to strengthen community unity by implementing more comprehensive digital literacy programmes.

“The project under the ministry, which is listed in the 12th Malaysia Plan and forms part of the Budget 2025 Initiative under the Digitalisation of National Heritage Treasury, began on March 15 and was completed on Nov 28.”

“The ministry will continue to intensify efforts to expand the use of new technology in library services to the people,” the statement said.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang recently conducted a walkabout to observe the implementation of the project.

He stressed that the use of technology as a learning medium could serve as a catalyst for the formation of a knowledgeable and competitive society.

The centre’s services, scheduled to open in mid-January, will introduce and utilise the latest technology such as virtual reality, augmented reality (AR), metaverse, hologram, Librarian Avatars, LED screens, interactive panels, Robozone and an AR Photobooth, reported Bernama.
