Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and more than 100 media personnel enjoyed a night full of laughter, camaraderie and celebration during a Media Appreciation Night in George Town.
In his speech, Chow said the event was to recognise the dedication of Penang’s media fraternity.
“We have been through a lot this year and you have given your best in reporting the news so that the public remains informed about what is happening in Penang and Malaysia.
“I would like to thank all the state’s media practitioners for their hard work.
“We are all aware that the media serves as a vital bridge that connects our endeavours with the world, and their power to inform, educate and inspire is unparalleled,” he added.
“I deeply appreciate the immense impact and continuous support over the many years.”
Some of the guests brought glitz and glam to the event with their sparkly outfits.
There was a sumptuous buffet, live band performance, karaoke and interactive games.
The event reached its climax with a lucky draw and prizes such as an air ticket to China, hotel vouchers, and electrical appliances.
It also saw Buletin Mutiara writer Sunarti Yusoff and the Chief Minister’s special officer Gurmandev Singh win The Best Dressed Female and Male awards respectively.
During judging, Chow got on stage and delighted attendees when he danced with his special officer.
Also present were Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, state social development, welfare and non-Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Lim Siew Khim and local government, town and country planning committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye.
