Independent traffic impact assessment for proposed Subang Jaya flyover project

PETALING JAYA: The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will be hiring a third-party consultancy firm to conduct the traffic impact assessment (TIA) for the proposed Persiaran Lagoon Selatan-Kelana Link flyover project in SS14 Subang Jaya, Selangor.

In a social media post, Subang MP Wong Chen said the decision came after a meeting between him and Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim on Dec 12.

"The TIA will be conducted by the highly reputable firm and the report will be made public once it is ready.

"Given the special circumstances surrounding this matter, I welcome this departure from the usual practice of relying on a TIA prepared by a developer.

"This departure upholds the principle of integrity and avoids any perceived or real conflict of interest," he said.

He expressed hope that the TIA can be completed within two months.

StarMetro had previously reported on the mixed reactions of SS14 residents to the proposed flyover.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng said it was part of a three-pronged traffic dispersal plan.

Phase 1 involves upgrading the New Pantai Expressway-Kewajipan roundabout and constructing an additional road with parking behind the three places of worship along Persiaran Kewajipan.

For Phase 2, a ramp is planned from Persiaran Lagoon Selatan to the Kelana Link.

Phase 3 includes a tunnel and road upgrades from Sunway City to Jalan Lagoon Timur.
