WAKING up early, braving the rain and waiting in long queues are what many shoppers, eager to stretch their ringgit, endure to purchase daily essentials at lower prices.

Community-based initiatives such as “Jualan Rahmah Madani” (JRM) and “Jualan Kasih Johor” (Jualan Kasih) programmes, introduced by the Federal and Johor governments respectively, have been a welcome relief for many who are faced with rising living costs.
