Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has set aside RM204mil in its 2026 Budget to improve environmental cleanliness, drainage upkeep, road maintenance and park landscaping.

The allocation includes RM92.78mil for environmental cleanliness and public health, RM55.05mil for road maintenance, RM41.22mil for parks and landscape upgrades and RM14.95mil for drainage works.

Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain (pic) said the plan utilised the outcome-based budgeting method that aligned resources with desired impacts and measurable outcomes.

“This budget places emphasis on areas that have a significant effect on the community, especially essential infrastructure and public health,” he said.

During the MBDK budget announcement, Abd Hamid said the council projected revenue of RM391.8mil for 2026, up 2.73% from this year’s RM381.47mil.

However, total expenditure is expected to reach RM440.9mil, leading to a RM49.1mil deficit that will be covered by the city council’s reserves.

“The total estimated expenditure for 2026 is RM440,903,500, an increase of RM39,578,890 (9.86%).

“Of this estimated amount, RM330,781,600 is allocated for operating expenditure, and RM110,121,900 for development project expenditure.”

Abd Hamid said the approved budget included allocations to boost the urban economy, healthy living initiatives, cultural and heritage engagement, and community development.

“The budget is designed in line with the mission of making Klang a quality, friendly, progressive and prosperous city,” he said. — By EDWARD RAJENDRA
