Holistic, nationwide solution needed for abandoned vehicles

I REFER to the report, “Penang pilots community effort to scrap old vehicles” which appeared in Sunday Star on Sept 21.

The new scheme of owners voluntarily deregistering their own vehicles and sending them to an authorised facility for payment does not solve the bigger problem of vehicles abandoned in public spaces like roads.
