DBKL launches five key systems as part of digital expansion

KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) is strengthening its digital transformation agenda with the launch of five key systems, namely BRID 2.0, Adu@KL, the DBKL Official Portal, KL City Manager, and KL Free WiFi.

According to a statement from DBKL, the systems were launched by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif at the DBKL Auditorium on Monday (Sept 29).

BRID 2.0 is being introduced as a comprehensive building management system, covering planning approvals, construction monitoring, enforcement, periodic inspections, and the control of derelict buildings and telecommunications structures.

With this new version, all transactions can be completed via the online portal, saving time and money.

Residents can now make applications or check on their status faster, while DBKL can deliver information and regulate development in a more orderly manner.

To enhance urban infrastructure management, the KL City Manager application has been introduced as a new core system that leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

Through this application, DBKL can detect road damage in under 10 minutes for each kilometre, send real-time flood warnings and analyse traffic flow to the extent that it can reduce the average journey time by 20%.

This technology allows DBKL to act more proactively in addressing city issues, thereby ensuring the safety and comfort of the residents.

Through Adu@KL, city dwellers now have an easy and inclusive digital channel for reporting municipal issues.

The application allows the public to not only submit complaints but also to forward suggestions, enquiries, and compliments regarding DBKL’s services.

Since its launch, over 70,000 complaints have been successfully resolved, with a user satisfaction rating reaching 82%.

As a result, small yet important issues like broken streetlights or potholes can be addressed more quickly.

The DBKL Official Portal has also been entirely redeveloped with a new look and better functionality.

Its modern design and user-friendly navigation establish the portal as a one-stop centre for various services—from tax payments, licence applications, and development checks to accessing town planning data.

Last but not least, KL Free WiFi has been introduced as an initiative to bridge the digital divide and ensure faster and more stable free Internet access for city residents.

It has been implemented at Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Bukit Bintang, which are popular public areas.

In line with the expansion of these digital systems, DBKL is also prioritising cybersecurity.

Through the implementation of the DBKL Cybersecurity Policy 2025, the use of real-time threat monitoring systems and a staff awareness programme, DBKL is ensuring that the personal data of the public is always protected.

DBKL is confident that this effort will strengthen the provision of faster, more transparent, and citizen-friendly services.

This aligns with the aspiration to transform Kuala Lumpur into a smart city by 2030.
