Don’t take part in July 26 gathering, Selangor civil servants told

CIVIL servants in Selangor are reminded to comply with rules barring them from taking part in public demonstrations.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he was confident that state civil servants were aware of this regulation.

"We can’t stop them (from taking part), but I am confident they are aware of the rules.

"It would also be inconvenient if they fell sick, as the weather is not good," he said when met at the Selangor Children’s Book Fair 2025 launch in Shah Alam.

Amirudin added that it was up to the department heads at state agencies to take action against employees who failed to comply with the rules.

His comments came in response to questions about a planned gathering by the Opposition at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday (July 26).

Police have estimated that between 10,000 and 15,000 people were expected to attend the rally.
