Mission Meow: Aiming to neuter 10,000 stray male cats in Melaka by year-end

MELAKA: A major neutering campaign has been launched in the state with the aim of sterilising 10,000 male cats by the end of the year to control the stray population and enhance public hygiene.

The initiative, titled "Mission Meow", was organised by Cat Supermarket in collaboration with its veterinary arm, Cat Specialist Medical Centre (CSMC).

Cat Supermarket managing director Datuk Chew Chert Fong said the campaign has been welcomed as a much-needed intervention.

"This initiative is about collective responsibility by working with local councils and welfare groups to create lasting change for both public health and animal wellbeing,” he said on Thursday (July 10).

Chew said that to encourage participation, a RM50 neutering voucher, redeemable at CS Vet Medical Centre here, was distributed.

He said the subsidy was introduced to help ease financial barriers for cat owners and rescuers.

“Our goal is to make neutering services more accessible while addressing the root causes of overpopulation.

"The campaign is expected to conclude by December 2025," he added.
