Pre-dawn storm wreaks havoc in parts of Gelugor

A FREAK pre-dawn storm with strong winds felled trees in the vicinity of Island Glades in Gelugor on Tuesday (July 8).

The Penang Island City Council's (MBPP) Skuad Pantas then sprang into action to clear the roads.

Seri Delima assemblyman Connie Tan said her service centre received a call at around 6.30am about trees at Lintang Delima 14 falling during strong winds.

"The MBPP emergency team acted quickly, and the clean-up was done within an hour.

"Several cars were affected, but there were no injuries," she said in a Facebook post.

"I have also requested the landscape team to trim and cut down at-risk trees to avoid similar incidents," she added.
