Anfaal: Care centre application fees differ according to the respective local authorities.

A SPECIAL committee will finalise a guideline on the setting up of care centres in Selangor, which is expected to be launched by end-July.

State women empowerment and welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari said the guideline would streamline applications from across all 12 local authorities (PBT) in Selangor for the registration of care centres.

“The Special Committee for Improvements of Care Services (JKPPP) is a dedicated committee set up to review and improve guidelines related to the establishment of care centres in Selangor, including reducing bureaucratic red tape,” she added.

Anfaal said this in reply to Rajiv Rishyakaran (PH-DAP) when asked about Selangor government’s efforts to reduce bureaucracy for registering care centres in residential premises, during the Selangor State Assembly sitting at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam.

Anfaal, who is Taman Templer assemblyman, added that existing bureaucratic problems included a long and multi-layered application process, lack of coordination between agencies and approval decisions taking a long time.

“Based on earlier discussions and workshops with PBTs and technical agencies, among the proposals to reduce waiting time are through digital submission of applications, coordination between PBTs and technical agencies for online document review, and improving conditions in existing guidelines,” she said.

On the application fee to establish care centres, she said this went towards planning permission and building plan, business premises licence and registration fee, among others.

“The rates differ according to the local authority. It costs RM680 at a city council, RM605 for municipal council and RM555 for district council.

“However, the cost does not include the professional consultant’s fee for the preparation of the planning permission and building plan,” Anfaal said.
