Pupils invited to submit entries for colouring contest by Aug 15

PRIMARY schoolchildren from around Malaysia are invited to enter the 2nd Lotus Light Cup national creative colouring contest themed “One Heart – Love our Country, Love our Earth”.

Malaysian Lotus Light Charity Society (Selangor & KL branch) said the competition sought to harness the power of art to convey messages of harmony and ecological consciousness.

It said in a media statement that the contest also hoped to strengthen family and social unity, deepen the bond between people and nature as well as celebrate creativity and colour.

The judging panel includes renowned painter Yap Hong Ngee, alongside those in the arts sphere such as Michele Chow, Colin Qi, Sky Yong, Loo Suenn Yin, Pa’ang Boon Kien and Chon Yoke Mei.

Contest committee chairman Robert Loi expressed his appreciation to those providing their expertise.

The organisers also extended their gratitude to Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han and Teratai assemblyman Yew Jia Haur, as well as KK Mart Group founder Datuk Seri KK Chai.

They expressed appreciation to SJK (C) Poi Min Puchong for providing the venue for the Lotus Light Cup award ceremony slated for Oct 19.

Loi hopes that ­participants will use colours to paint hope and creativity and sketch a brighter future for both the nation and the planet.

Those interested must submit their entries by Aug 15. The list of finalists will be revealed on Sept 15.

Also present at the launch were the society’s president Wong See Yi and vice-president Cham Chean Fong, KK Mart Group representatives Serena How and Ma Loong, SJK (C) Poi Min Puchong construction ­committee chairman William Pang and film director Jimz Lee.
