AUTOMAKER Stellantis has announced a partnership with Teach For Malaysia (TFM) through the “EduPower for Quality Education” initiative, aimed at supporting underserved and indigenous communities across Selangor, Perak and Sarawak.

The initiative focuses on improving access to quality education for B40 families, Orang Asli and Orang Asal groups by addressing challenges in engagement, resources and teacher support.

Stellantis Asean chief operating officer Daniel Gonzalez said the partnership reflected the company’s commitment to breaking the cycle of educational inequity.

“Education is a key driver of economic and social mobility, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no community is left behind.

The partnership aims to impact 19,950 students in underserved communities, with efforts to improve foundational literacy and numeracy. The partnership aims to impact 19,950 students in underserved communities, with efforts to improve foundational literacy and numeracy.

“Subsequently, we look forward to empowering the next generation through education, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to break barriers and unlock future opportunities,” he said.

The collaboration supports TFM’s two-year Fellowship Programme that will train 90 fellows to serve high-need schools, reaching nearly 20,000 students aged seven to 17, with a focus on literacy and numeracy.

TFM CEO Chan Soon Seng welcomed the collaboration, saying it strengthened the organisation’s mission to empower all children through education.

“At TFM, we believe that all children in Malaysia should have the opportunity to realise their potential through quality education, regardless of their background.

“We are thrilled to have Stellantis onboard as a like-minded partner who understands the value of education and contributes to helping us build and mobilise a movement of leaders to empower all children in Malaysia through education.

“Together, we will make meaningful strides towards creating more impact in accessing quality and equitable education for children in the country,” said Chan.

Further efforts under the initiative will include a Student Leader Advisory Council to foster mentorship and advocacy, connecting students with Stellantis employees and encouraging leadership development.
