FALLEN trees and branches are causing property damage for Taman Petaling Kepong residents.

Community activist Yee Poh Ping said trees and branches on the roadside of Jalan 1/39 were prone to falling due to strong winds during thunderstorms.

Resident Wong Loke Chia found his car severely damaged by a fallen tree in 2023.

He said the tree fell onto a field situated between Jalan 1/39 and Jalan 11/39, causing damage to his vehicle that had been parked next to the field.

Both the vehicle’s front and back windscreens were shattered in the incident, said Wong.

Resident Woo Ah Cheong said dried leaves caused clogging, leading to house gutters falling apart from the weight of accumulated water.

Similarly, resident Chang Seok Mooi found leaks in her home caused by clogged gutters.

It was previously reported that trees had fallen on motorists and vehicles at Kepong Baru last September.

Yee urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to find a solution to the problem.

He suggested DBKL cut down and prune trees that pose safety risks to residents and road users.
