Selangor government will utilise the increased capitation grant allocation from the Federal Government to improve critical sectors and services for the people.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state would prioritise the people’s comfort by addressing road infrastructure and dealing with flood issues.
“We acknowledge the need for more allocations to implement projects like flood mitigation as soon as possible,” he said after witnessing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing between Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) and Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) at the “Wanita MyWira” Convention 2025, held at IDCC Shah Alam.
Also present were Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and Selangor women’s development and community welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari.
Amirudin was asked about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement last week that federal allocations to state governments had been raised to RM9.8bil this year, compared to RM9.3bil in 2024.
Anwar said the 2025 National Financial Council meeting granted approval for a 25% increase in the capitation grant for state governments, marking the first revision since 2002.
This amounted to an additional RM109mil, bringing the total to RM548mil each state would receive starting 2026.
Earlier at the event, the MOU signing reinforced TalentCorp’s and WBS’ shared commitment to expanding employment and career development opportunities for women across Selangor.
It also formalised a partnership to enhance women’s workforce participation through the “Jelajah Wanita MyWira” outreach programme.
Amirudin said the aim was to provide job opportunities and support for the integration of women in the workforce, as well as skills training workshops, workforce incentives and job marketability including providing job placement opportunities.
The “Jelajah Wanita MyWira” programme, which runs from April to November, aims to provide on-ground engagement, skills building, and workforce reintegration support for women at all levels.
