MBSJ launches app mapping out city’s attractions, amenities
SUBANG Jaya city may not be a top tourist destination, but its local council is determined to increase its visibility.
The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has launched the Gemilang MBSJ application, with the second phase underway.
Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim, in a statement, said the app provided detailed information about over 900 tourism destinations in the city.
“It includes 317 gastronomic locations, 48 accommodations, 63 public facilities, 42 educational institutions, 10 medical centres, nine eco-tourism destinations, three heritage sites, 40 shopping centres, two theme parks, 18 recreational areas, 25 transport options, 98 places of worship and five emergency service centres.
“The app will also display the latest information on important updates, promotions and upcoming events in Subang Jaya.”
Present at the launch were Subang MP Wong Chen, Sri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Salimi Che Adzmi@Azmi and Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng.
The Gemilang MBSJ app offers real-time navigation, helping users with Google Maps functionality to get directions to their destinations, with the option to use Waze for navigation.
For transportation bookings, users can connect to e-hailing platforms and make payments directly using those platforms.
An MBSJ spokesperson said the second phase of the app would soon be launched.
“In Phase II, the shopping feature will be fully activated, allowing tourists to take advantage of a seamless shopping experience.
“While the basic shopping functionality is already available, the second phase will include features such as viewing local products with detailed information and images, including official MBSJ merchandise.
“Users will be able to directly communicate with merchants for reservations or purchases, streamlining the buying process.
“This initiative aims to support the growth of the local economy and tourism sector while making it easier and faster for tourists to obtain souvenirs and local products, thereby establishing Subang Jaya as an attractive tourism destination.”
