THE Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration will be an extra special one for Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) which will host an open house on Feb 6.

The event will also feature cultural performances including a lion dance featuring performers from various ethnic groups.

Minister Nga Kor Ming, in a statement, said the ministry was committed to promoting multiracial harmony via Malaysia’s many communal festivities.

“At the ministry, we take pride in celebrating various major festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year.

“Everyone is invited to join us in celebrating this joyous occasion,” he said, adding that cultural celebrations were vital in fostering bonds among Malaysians.

Nga said diversity and harmony were two key pillars of the nation’s success.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia was recognised as among the 10 most peaceful countries globally.

“It is, therefore, crucial for all Malaysians to stand united with the Madani government to continue driving economic growth,” he added.

To usher in the Year of the Snake, the ministry’s lobby is adorned with festive decorations including red lanterns and a cherry blossom tree.

The Chinese New Year open house is scheduled to start at 12.30pm at KPKT in Persiaran Perdana, Precinct 4, Putrajaya.
