WEARING a striking navy-blue sequinned cheongsam, Watsons Malaysia managing director and AS Watson Group Health and Beauty Asia chief operating officer Caryn Loh made a grand entrance into the hotel ballroom with an entourage of performers in brightly coloured suits.

The occasion was the Watsons’ launch of its Chinese New Year campaign which included debut of a music video and theme song, Sim Leng Leng (meaning “to glow beautifully” in Cantonese).

“I have the passion to make every woman beautiful,” said Loh on the inspiration behind this year’s campaign.

“Any woman who steps into our store will be able to find all the grooming essentials to make her beautiful,” she said at the dinner event.

For the #HappyBeautifulYear 2025 campaign, Watsons presents an original production designed to inspire unity, positivity and festive cheer through captivating tunes and dance moves.

“This Chinese New Year, we aimed to create a memorable and one-of-a-kind experience that resonates with everyone.

“The video serves as a heartfelt invitation to celebrate the new year with open hearts, boundless enthusiasm and a strong sense of togetherness within our community,” said Loh.

The video, starring Watsons Ambassador Phei Yong alongside celebrity friends Amber Chia, the Kuan Family with Perry Kuan, Mskuan and Jestinna Kuan, and Danny Lee, highlights Watsons’ commitment to embracing new beginnings, spreading happiness, creating your unique style and championing sustainability.

“This year’s video is packed with fun, energy and meaningful moments that beautifully capture the festive spirit with a signature catchy tune and memorable dance moves,” said Phei Yong.

Hong Kong star Wayne Lai also attended the event as a surprise guest, and performed a song with the cast of the music video.

Another notable performance at the launch was by Deafbeat, a group of deaf drummers.

“During this festive season, Watsons Malaysia is also at the forefront of giving back to the community,” said Loh.

“This year, we partnered with DeafBeat to support their incredible work within the deaf community,” she added.

Watsons refurbished the percussion troupe’s equipment and provided performance items.

Also at the launch was Watsons Malaysia chief operating officer Danny Hoh, who said the campaign included a first for the retailer, namely a 50% sale on selected products and a contest exclusively for members.

“They stand a chance to win daily cash prizes of RM8,888 and other prizes totalling RM1,888,888!”

To participate, members need to spend a minimum of RM80 with any Visa card, in-store or online, until Jan 31.
