Platform for entrepreneurs to shine

MAJOR industry players were recognised for their business acumen and achievement at the Seba Awards 2024, which returned for its 11th edition.

The event was a recognition for high-achieving people in the agriculture, construction, retail, technology, finance, healthcare and property sectors.

It was organised by Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and businesses through strategic collaborations.

Yayasan Usahawan chairman Datuk Nitesh Malani said the awards were aimed at raising standards across various industries.

“It is also hoped to inspire entrepreneurs to push limits and foster a resilient, interconnected business community,” he said.Guest-of-honour Sabah Yang Di-Pertua Negri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin expressed appreciation for those involved in the Kuala Lumpur event.

“Seba stands as a beacon of inspiration for our entrepreneurs, showcasing talents while serving as a platform for cultivating innovation,” he said.

The event saw KK Group of Companies founder and group executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai receiving the Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Datuk Seri Michael Chong received the Social Impact Leadership Award for his work as MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head for helping consumers and scam victims.

Also honoured was Star Media Group Bhd adviser and Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, who was awarded Media Personality of the Year.

In a pre-recorded address, Wong in gratitude of the recognition, thanked his colleagues in the media industry.

“This is a great honour and another significant milestone for us,” he noted.

The night was doubly meaningful with a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Juhar’s birthday.

The awards ceremony was preceded by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Mandrill Tech, ServeDeck Innovation and Enviro Group Asia.

The MOU marked a collaboration in facility management using digital and solutions aimed at improving workplace safety.

Seba is set to expand with the introduction of its northern edition, slated to take place in Penang in February next year.

It will be followed by the Borneo edition in June.
