A stand-up start to the new year

Harith will perform at DFP on Jan 25.

FOLLOWING the success of its debut Punchline series featuring Douglas Lim in November, Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) in Kuala Lumpur will present Harith Iskander’s “35 years of Laughter” to kick off 2025.

The stand-up comedian will showcase his debut show at DFP on Jan 25 at 8pm.

Expanding its forte beyond concert presentation, this comedy series is in line with DFP’s continuous initiatives to present a variety of entertainment and expand its brand presence to new audiences.

After Harith’s first official show in 1990, next year marks the 35th year of his career as a comedian.

“I have performed at DFP before but it was for a music and storytelling show for children.

“The opportunity to open the year by performing an inaugural stand-up comedy at DFP is exciting,” Harith told a press conference, adding that he had been working on new material.

Harith said he had not done a public show in quite a while as most of his recent gigs comprised corporate events.

“The audience who come to see me can expect stories that are more personal and edgy.”

Harith revealed plans to incorporate his own live music with comedy during the show.

“I will also be inviting two comedians. One of them is Mad Sabah, who is my favourite comedian now as he is original, funny and talented.”

Tickets for “35 years of Laughter” are priced from RM129 to RM329.

There is also a meet-and-greet option for an additional RM100.
