MORE than 100 children participated in a meaningful event celebrating Children’s Day in Johor Baru, Johor.
The youngsters from welfare home Pertubuhan Kebajikan Shan De Johor Baru were hosted to a meal and fun activities by Lions Club of Johor Jaya and McDonald’s.
The club led by past president Helen Chong organised the lunch at the home in Johor Baru.
“We received generous support from ‘Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s’ and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which we are grateful for,” she said.
“The event brought smiles to the children’s faces,” she said.
Chong said the event also showcased performances by a fitness dance group and an engaging activity by Leo Club members of Leo Alpha SMK Johor Jaya.
The highlights of the day, she said, was the distribution of burgers and a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate both Children’s Day and some of the children’s birthdays.
“Our goal is to create meaningful, joyful experiences for the young ones.”
Chong said such celebrations underscored Lions Club’s commitment to community welfare, with plans to continue supporting local organisations and initiatives.
She expressed her thanks on behalf of Lions Club of Johor Jaya, to all the sponsors, volunteers and participants for making this Children’s Day at the welfare home a heartwarming success.
World Children’s Day is celebrated internationally on Nov 20 by United Nations member countries, including Malaysia.
Children’s Day emphasises equal rights, eradication of discrimination and the welcoming of all children in society.
