1,560 jobs created from investments worth RM3.04bil in Perak

PERAK has recorded about RM3.04bil in investment between January and June this year.

State tourism, industry, investment and corridor development committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said the amount comprised RM2.85bil from domestic investors and RM184.2mil from foreign investors, involving 166 projects.

He said the manufacturing sector contributed RM601.5mil, involving 30 projects.

“These included RM457.3mil from domestic investors and RM144.2mil from foreign investors.

“The services sector contributed over RM2.4bil, consisting of 136 projects, whereby RM2.4bil are from local investors and RM40mil from foreign investors,” he said when replying to Ong Seng Guan (PH-Pokok Assam) during the question-and-answer session at the Perak State Assembly sitting yesterday in Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in Ipoh.

“All these investments will create 1,560 job opportunities, with 1,249 vacancies in the manufacturing sector and 311 jobs in the services sector,” said Loh.

He also said that in Taiping alone, about RM272.7mil worth of investments have been approved within the same period, involving 17 projects.

It comprised RM112.3mil from local investors and RM160.4mil from foreign investors.

“These projects are managed and supervised by Malaysia Investment Development Authority (Mida),” he said, noting that 277 job opportunities were created.

“New investments being developed in Taiping include electrical and electronic factories, machine part manufacturers and semi-conductor plants.

“These projects are expansios by investors from Penang.”

Loh said InvestPerak has facilitated and eased investments into the state.
