A partnership programme will provide companies financial support of up to RM5,000 to boost Selangor’s life science sector.

Selangor Lab Partnership Programme also offers access to research facilities, opportunities to engage with leading academic experts and support services tailored to their specific business as well as research and development (R&D) needs.

Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris said, “The programme is designed to bridge the gap between industry and academia, as well as foster collaboration that can transform innovative ideas into practical solutions.

“Most of these companies are startups that lack facilities which are available at universities.

“At the same time, university students can benefit and assist in conducting research,” he said after the programme’s launch in Kuala Lumpur.

Nine institutions are strategic partners – Universiti Selangor, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Sunway University, Taylor’s University, Xiamen University Malaysia, Monash University Malaysia and Forest Research Institute Malaysia.

Hasan said Invest Selangor aimed to have 10 participating companies for the programme.

“By connecting industry players with research institutes, we aim to create a robust ecosystem that promotes knowledge sharing and accelerates R&D.

“Companies interested in participating in this programme can meet with us.

“A committee will evaluate the viability of the proposed projects,” he said.

Also present at the launch was Selangor Islamic affairs and cultural innovation committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah. — By MEGAT SYAHAR
