Over 100 volunteers beautify Labuan’s Rusukan Besar Island

CLEAN, scenic landscapes and upgraded facilities, including treehouses, beach swings, a cafe and new restrooms greet visitors to Labuan’s most popular seaside spot Rusukan Besar Island.

More than 100 volunteers took part in the third series of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa participated in the event, which formed part of a strategic initiative led by the Federal Territories Department (JWP), Labuan Corporation (LC) and Student Volunteer Foundation.

JWP, in a statement to Bernama, said the CSR campaign focused on cleanliness and beautification efforts to support a more vibrant tourism industry.

The collaboration also involved various government agencies, local communities and non-governmental organisations, including the Fire and Rescue Department, Astro Awani, the Labuan Media Practitioners Association, Labuan Youth (Rakan Muda) and G1 Contractors Association.

The statement also confirmed that the construction of a new jetty had begun.
