NAVARATHIRI, meaning “nine nights” in Sanskrit, is a Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her various forms.
This year, celebrations began on Oct 3, with devotees fasting, going on a vegetarian diet and engaging in prayers every night at home or in Hindu temples.
