Cabinet to discuss Malaysia hosting SEA Games this month, says Hannah Yeoh

THE feasibility of Malaysia hosting the SEA Games will be discussed this month, says Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.

“The National Sports Council (NSC) will finalise the Cabinet papers and the matter will be discussed at the upcoming Cabinet meeting before the Olympics.

“Besides Sarawak, Penang has shown interest in hosting the SEA Games.

“All of this will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting,” she said during a press conference held during the National Dodgeball Championship (NDC) Grand Finals at Sportizza, PJS 51, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The Olympic Games start from July 26 to Aug 11.

Yeoh also announced a RM50,000 grant from the minister’s allocation to the Malaysian Association of Dodgeball (MAD) to fund their participation in international competitions as well as other operations.

“Participation in team sports is very expensive due to the number of players and I urge corporate and government-linked companies to invest in youth and sports development.

“Interested parties can discuss the details with my office,” she said.

The NDC grand finals are participated by 37 dodgeball teams from 11 states.
