Repairs approved for damaged Ulu Tiram structure

Work to repair the riverside structure behind a primary school in Ulu Tiram is expected to be completed in October.

Work to repair a collapsed riverside structure at SJK(C) Tiram in Johor Baru will begin at the end of this month.

Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse said the structure, located at the back of the primary school in Ulu Tiram collapsed after an unexpected storm on Jan 9.

“Two days after the incident, I brought up the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was having a working visit to Johor Baru at the time.

“After that, the Federal Government approved an allocation of RM400,000 to the Johor Drainage and Irrigation Department to carry out the repairs,” he said.

According to the department, repairs were expected to begin at the end of the month and were scheduled for completion in October, added Puah.

He said he hoped the project would provide safety and comfort for pupils and teachers.

“This also reflects the Madani goverment’s concern for the people and their well-being.

“I will work closely with the department to ensure that the construction is carried out according to plan,” he added.
