MALAYSIAN Dato’ Entrepreneurs’ Association (MDEA) may set up a youth wing to nurture young entrepreneurs.

Deputy president Datuk Seri Teo Shiok Fu said young entrepreneurs could gain knowledge from the association’s 100 members all over the country.

“Our members run over 1,000 companies and employ 50,000 workers,” he said.

Teo added that the association would also work closely with the Johor government to spearhead the state’s growth and development.

MDEA president Datuk Seri Jacky Ker Cherk Yee said Johor-based businessmen would work with their Singaporean counterparts for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

He was optimistic that incoming Singapore premier Lawrence Wong would continue his predecessor Lee Hsien Loong’s policies in trade and investment.

Both were speaking during a press conference on MDEA’s 4th Installation ceremony that will take place next month.

Also present were vice-president Datuk Jane Go Lian Tin, secretary general Datuk Kelvin Lee Boon Huat, treasurer Datuk Albert Ding Choo Earn, council member Datuk Anna Lim Sok Keng and appointed council member Datuk Anson Loo Kuoh Yoon.

Teo said the association would also focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives, including organising a medical camp in a rural area in August. — By ZAZALI MUSA
