THE Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration for six families in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, was a lot brighter after they received cash and household items from a property developer.

IJM Land Bhd not only presented each recipient with RM1,000 duit raya but also went further to supply RM600 worth of essential items including rice, cooking oil, flour and biscuits.

IJM Land senior general manager Chai Kian Soon said the programme was part of the developer’s annual initiative known as “Program Mesra Ramadan”.

He said the initiative was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme which included providing support to families in need.

“This gesture of goodwill is intended to ensure that these families, facing various life challenges, can partake in the festivities without the shadow of financial stress.

“We should help those in difficult situations, especially during Ramadan and Raya,” he said.

Chai said the objective was not only to provide material support but also to spark hope and solidarity in the community.

Single mothers Mastura Abdul Rahim, 56, and Siti Haidawati Biseri, 46, were most grateful for the aid.

Mastura, who has one child, is an amputee suffering from diabetes, while Siti Haidawati, who has two school-going children, has kidney disease.

Another recipient, burger seller Sahrul Arifin Md Yunos, 40, and his 41-year-old wife, who is a government servant, expressed gratitude to IJM Land as the aid would allow them to have a better Raya with their four school-going children.

Norazli Mohd Ishak, 41, who works as a personal driver, has also been struggling to provide for his four children aged between five and 16 years.

Housewife Hanisah Abdul Kader, 46, whose husband is a security guard, was happy to receive the assistance as she also looks after her elderly father.

Chai said IJM Land also hoped to inspire a culture of empathy and support within the community through the programme.
