IN conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) gave financial aid to the city’s residents.
The donation was made during a Raya event organised by the city council at Dewan Kiambang, Section 7, Shah Alam.
Through the collaboration of Residents Representative Council (MPP) Zone 3 and the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) Selangor, 50 residents were chosen to receive a hamper set consisting of Raya necessities worth RM150, along with RM100 in cash.
“The recipients from lower-income groups include the elderly, urban poor single mothers, disabled persons and other underprivileged residents in Shah Alam,” said Shah Alam mayor Cheremi Tarman.
The programme was arranged to help with festive expenses of those about to celebrate Hari Raya.
“The community programme is also MBSA’s initiative for strengthening the bond between the city council and its residents.
“We hope that Shah Alam residents will have better awareness about our social responsibility to those in need,” said Cheremi, who officiated the programme.
Also present at the ceremony were acting deputy mayor Madiyan Baweh, councillors and Zone 3 MPP director Maizan Abdul Majid.
At another occasion, MBSA held a breaking of fast event at its convention centre in Section 13.
Representing the mayor, MBSA director of corporate and public relations Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif said the programme reaffirmed MBSA’s commitment to foster community engagement and promote religious teaching.
Mohd Azhar said 30 students from Maahad Tahfiz Darul Hikmah, Denai Alam, received RM50 in cash during the programme.
“Fifty media practitioners also received gifts in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration,” he said.
The programme saw the participation of 300 individuals, including representatives from the MPP, MTDH students and MBSA staff.
Also present were Cheremi, council members and the MBSA’s senior management.
