Sepang residents associations unite for the first time to give to the underprivileged for Ramadan

A NEW township in Sepang, Selangor, organised its first community event to spur camaraderie among residents.

About 100 Bandar Sunsuria residents from completed township sections such as Monet Garden prepared 2,000 packs of beef and fish bubur lambuk for distribution to selected welfare homes.

Event leader and Monet Garden Residents Association chairman Hairul Akmal Abdul Samad said it was important to foster good relations between residents, as neighbours were the nearest people who could offer help.

“During emergencies, neighbours are the best persons to call on for help.

“There have been a couple of medical emergencies and residents who are medical doctors have responded immediately.

“So, it is very important to get to know our neighbours and what better way to get to know them, than community events like this?” said Hairul, who added that this was the first time residents associations from the completed sections of the township organised a joint activity.

Support from the residents, sponsors and volunteers – who came dressed in traditional attire – from Politeknik Metro Kuala Lumpur made Hairul feel grateful.

He hopes this event will be held annually and in time, becomes a township tradition.

Present to launch the event was Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusoff.

ACP Wan Kamarul spoke about the importance of neighbourliness in ensuring safety and security.

He said gated-and-guarded schemes deterred criminals, and reminded the people about the importance of paying scheme maintenance fees in a timely manner.

“Gated-and-guarded schemes help the police safeguard the area.

“The guards not only take care of the entrances but also patrol the neighbourhood from time to time.

“There is less need for a police box these days,” said ACP Wan Kamarul, adding that his office would always be open for the public to seek help.
