KOLEJ Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (KYPJ) is targeting to enrol 2,100 new students in its August and September intake.

Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin said all new students would be provided with loan and registration aid.

“The college is fully owned by the Johor government and is under my portfolio.

“I hope to help all students here be successful.

“We currently have 1,800 students at the college, and we hope to get 2,100 students in our next intake,” he said after a bubur lambuk and Quran recital programme at the college.

Aznan said the college’s main agenda was to promote lifelong learning so its students could become highly skilled and professional workers.

“The state government wants to ensure that all Bangsa Johor children are able to access affordable and high quality education.

“We want to create an educated society that can bring our state and country’s economy to a higher level,” he said, adding that the highest loan amount offered was RM32,000, depending on the course taken.

Aznan said there were currently 17 types of diploma courses offered by the college, including hotel and culinary, engineering and business studies, which were conducted together with Universiti Teknologi Mara.

He added that they also offered diplomas in computer science and accounting, partnering with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Aznan said the Johor government had allocated RM200,000 to help the college students celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“All of them are from B40 families. We hope this aid will help with their expenses,” he added.
