Shoe retailer steps beyond sales with aid to improve students’ lives

FOOTWEAR retailer Bata Malaysia held a Charity Media Lunch in partnership with Dignity for Children, to align with the celebration of International Women’s Day.

Bata contributed school shoes and supplies to the Dignity for Children Foundation for the urban poor during the charity lunch held at NGO-run restaurant Eat X Dignity, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.

The event also featured talks on women’s rights and health by esteemed professionals.

It was part of Bata’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility through the Bata Children’s Programme (BCP), a global initiative where Bata supports education, health and well-being in communities around the world.

Under the programme, Bata has adopted children from special needs school SK Pendidikan Khas Jalan Batu in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, in 2022 with a three-year plan that would enable ongoing projects and fun activities throughout the year.

The footwear retailer also introduced its new range of school shoes during the recent Back-to-School period.

Made to protect children against bacterial overgrowth and resulting foot odour, the new shoe make was introduced as part of Bata’s “Put Your Fresh Foot Forward” campaign that ran from Feb 13 to March 10.

Bata Malaysia country manager Rabi Hasnabi expressed the company’s excitement over the shoes that had been enhanced with a shield against bacteria.

“With advanced technologies like Life Natural and Memory Foam Insole, we ensure every step is a fresh start, offering all-day protection against bacteria.

“It’s not just about shoes; it’s about empowering students towards a healthier, more comfortable learning journey, from the first bell to the last,” he said.
