Charity group brings cheer to homeless

Many charity organisations had teamed up to bring cheer to the homeless living in the city during the Lunar New Year celebration.

At an event organised by Lions Club of Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, 200 sets of goodie bags worth RM60 each, with ang pow and food bento, were distributed.

Held at SJK (C) Kung Min Kuala Lumpur, the project was supported by Persatuan Kebajikan Chui Sui Malaysia, Ping Ping Group and The Golden Years.

Within half an hour, the 200 sets were snapped up.

Anticipating great demand, the organiser had prepared an additional 100 sets of goodie bags.

Lions Club of Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur director Datuk Dr Lye Wing Voi, who was the organising chairman, said, “As a part of the community, we are always committed to caring for the disadvantaged, especially during Chinese New Year.

He also thanked Persatuan Chui Sui Malaysia president Robert Kok and Lions of Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur president KK Chin for their full support.

Teratai assemblyman Yew Jia Haur, representing Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, was also present.

Additionally, the event was also attended by Abang Adik actor Tan Kim Wang and the Federation of Malaysia Chinese Guilds Association president Datuk Lum Kim Soong.
