TOURISM Johor will be doubling efforts to upgrade all tourism products and amenities this year as it prepares for Asean Tourism Forum 2025 and Visit Johor Year 2026.

Tourism Johor director Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim said the two programmes would play a significant role in attracting both local and foreign tourists to the state.

“We have a lot of plans in each district.

“We want to promote all activities in Johor including sports, especially those for young people like push biking and junior fencing,” he said after launching the Iskandar Puteri Car-Free Day at the Gateway Garden, Iskandar Puteri.

Tourism Johor will also be focusing on its annual Majestic Johor Festival which is expected to be held in August.

“One of the festival highlights is Johor’s food specialities. We will feature all types of food including unique ones from every district under one roof.

“This is in response to last year’s positive feedback. Many visitors said they wanted us to highlight more varieties of Johor food.”

The car-free day, he said was organised by Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) as part of its low-carbon campaign.

“We want to promote the MBIP Gateway Garden as a place for families to come and spend their time during the weekend.

“This event is held once every two months for families to spend more quality time together on weekends,” said Sharil Nizam.
