Hulu Langat, Kajang seek funds for tourism event

Ng: Tourism Selangor is coming up with various plans to attract visitors for next year

SIX applications for funds amounting to RM645,000 to upgrade tourism infrastructure in the Hulu Langat district will be evaluated this month in preparation for Visit Selangor Year 2025.

State local government committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim said a decision on the applications would follow after a visit to the district.

“Kajang Municipal Council has made four applications for RM350,000 while the Hulu Langat Land and District Office had made two applications for RM295,000,” said Ng, who was responding to David Cheong Kian Young (PH-Kajang) who asked on the state government’s plans for the Visit Selangor Year campaign next year.

Ng added that the state government through Tourism Selangor was planning various efforts.

Aside from setting overall goals and targets to increase the number of tourists, Ng said the government was running studies to determine potential tourism segments and trends.

“We are engaging with various industry players like tour agencies, airlines and strategic partners to enhance marketing reach, improve service quality and to offer attractive packages.

“Public infrastructure facilities and cleanliness at destinations and public amenities will be improved in cooperation with local authorities.

“We will also intensify marketing and promotional activities for tourism through advertising, digital campaigns and social media,” said Ng.

He added that events, roadshows and travel fairs in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025 would also be held domestically and abroad.
