Selangor government’s Chinese New year celebration drew some 1,000 visitors to a mall in Putrajaya.

The event was graced by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of food as well as multicultural performances including dragon and lion dances besides performances by gamelan and Chinese drum troupes, in line with the “Perayaan Muafakat” theme.

Also present were Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor Speaker Lau Weng San as well as state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han.

Ng said the presence of people of various races and religions at the celebration was heartening, and this would help spur the state’s economic agenda.

“Investors will be interested to invest in Selangor for the long haul because of our diversity and stability.

“As of September last year, Selangor recorded RM41.5bil in investments, comprising RM16.9bil in the manufacturing sector and RM24.6bil in the services sector.

“In the manufacturing sector, Selangor recorded the highest domestic investment with RM4.5bil.

“This shows that the state government’s approach to providing fair opportunities to local industries has begun to bear fruit.

“This Chinese New Year, we will pray for health, safety and continued prosperity,” said Ng.
