Institute of Rejang Journalists in Sarawak is organising a mobile journalism workshop open to all on March 9 and 10 at Kingwood Hotel, Sibu.
The event is supported by Business Event Sarawak, Sibu Journalists Association and the hotel.
The workshop is aimed at teaching visual storytelling skills to media workers, content creators, students and those in related fields.
Two media trainers from Singapore are among the facilitators, said organising chairperson Jane Moh during a media conference.
“They are Augustine Anthuvan, a former executive producer of Mediacorp’s Channel News Asia, and Ng Lian Cheong who is a senior editor and producer of Mediacorp’s Chinese current affairs.
“We have also invited creative and film director Dexter Anthony to give training on video shooting and editing,” she said.
Anthuvan and Ng will provide training in English and Chinese respectively.
At the end of the training, participants are required to film, edit and present a two-minute video.
Early birds need only pay RM80 for the workshop fee or RM150 for both the workshop fee and accommodation costs for two nights.
The standard fee is RM100 for the workshop and RM200 for the workshop plus accommodation.
Early bird registration closes on March 1 and the deadline to register thereafter is March 8.
