Nearly 12,000 assessment tax defaulters in PJS 8/2 area, says MBPJ

NEARLY 12,000 property owners in the PJS 8/2 area in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, have defaulted in their assessment tax payment, resulting in some RM8.1mil in total accumulated arrears.

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) said arrears by low-cost properties made up about RM727,000.

“Meanwhile, assessment tax arrears by other types of properties made up about RM7.5mil,” it said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 25).

A campaign was held on Feb 24 and 25 from 10am to 3pm in Sunway Mentari to help ratepayers and defaulters settle their assessment.

At the event, ratepayers could check their bills and update their mailing details, noted the council.

“Those living nearby were encouraged to take this opportunity to come and settle their arrears and current assessment.

“The council also gave a small token for those who settled their assessment for one year,” said MBPJ.

The deadline for assessment payment for the January-June 2024 term is Feb 29, it added.
