Selangor women, family empowerment, welfare and care economy committee chairman Anfaal Saari said in addition to the grants, the state would provide other types of support to single mothers.

“We hope to give them opportunities to better themselves and improve their lives,” she said at “Jalinan Kasih dan Bicara Santai” hi-tea and talk at a hotel in Shah Alam.

Grant recipients included National Single Mothers’ Association Selangor branch, Shah Alam Single Mothers’ Association, Bukit Beruntung Single Mothers Association and Pertubuhan Sayang Wanita Shah Alam.

Anfaal said the hi-tea talk focused on women in the workforce, gender equality and women’s leadership in Selangor.

The event was attended by 200 guests, including women’s advocacy non-governmental organisations and single mothers.

Also at the talk was Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki.
